Do you love to read? Are you drawn to a favourite author’s way of seeing things, or do the words of well-known figures keep pushing you forward? What if the quotations you have been collecting could now bring you recognition and a prize as well?

You read that correctly. Bangla Wikiquote is running a month-long contest of its own — ‘Wikiquote Contest 2026’.

💡 What is the contest about?

Wikiquote is a sister project of Wikipedia, collecting the sayings of notable people from around the world. This contest exists to enrich Bangla Wikiquote further and to add well-sourced new entries to it.

🏆 What are the prizes?

The ten leading contributors will receive gift vouchers and certificates:

1st place: a gift voucher worth 6,000 BDT.
2nd place: a gift voucher worth 4,000 BDT.
3rd to 5th place: vouchers of 3,000, 2,500 and 2,000 BDT respectively.
6th to 10th place: a 500 BDT voucher each.
Special award: printed certificates for the top ten. Beyond that, creating even one quotation page that meets the standard earns you a digital certificate.

📝 Rules for taking part

A few straightforward rules apply:

1. Dates: the contest opened on 1 April and runs until 30 April 2026.

2. Standard: each new page needs at least 150 words and at least three quotations with reliable sources.

3. Translation: quotations from other languages must be rendered into fluent Bengali without the use of AI.

4. Subject matter: a quotation page may cover any notable person or topic, apart from certain excluded categories such as plays, films and songs.
