Cookie Statement
This page describes which cookies the Bangla WikiConnect website uses, and why. We use no advertising or behavioural tracking cookies.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. On a later visit the site can read it back and remember your preferences.
What we use
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
bnwp-theme |
Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. It stays in your own browser and is never sent to our server. | Until you clear it |
comment_author_* |
If you leave a comment, remembers your name, email and website so you need not retype them. | One year |
wordpress_*, wp-settings-* |
Administrators only — keeps you signed in and remembers admin preferences. These are never set for ordinary readers. | Session to one year |
Third parties
We set no third-party cookies. Some content is loaded from outside servers, however, which reveals your IP address and browser details to those organisations:
| Service | Why | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Wikimedia Commons | Some member and project images are shown directly from Commons | Wikimedia Foundation privacy policy |
| Google Fonts | Loads the site’s Bengali typefaces | Google privacy policy |
| Akismet | Checks comments for spam — only if you comment | Automattic privacy policy |
Controlling cookies
You can delete or block cookies in any browser’s settings. Blocking ours will not stop you reading the site — you will simply lose your saved light or dark preference.
