The Wikiquote Contest 2026 is an online contest held to improve Bangla Wikiquote. Its aim is to create new quotation pages, broaden the range of existing material, and enrich the free knowledge available in Bangla by adding well-sourced quotations.

Bangla Wikiquote currently has relatively few quotation pages. The contest therefore encourages participants to create new entries about notable people, subjects and ideas.

What you may write about

Pages may be created on any notable subject other than plays, films, songs, books, short stories, poems and novels. Where the subject is a foreign figure or topic, the quotations must be translated into Bangla. Translations must read naturally and clearly, and must be free of the marks of machine or artificial-intelligence translation. A proper source is required for every quotation, so that readers can check it for themselves.

How to take part

Create one or more new entries on Bangla Wikiquote — either of your own choosing or from the list provided. Each new page must contain at least 150 words and at least three quotations, and must be submitted through the designated submission system.

The contest is open to participants anywhere in the world. You take part using your own Wikimedia account. Tutorials and support are available for newcomers, so that anyone can start contributing to Bangla Wikiquote easily.

Dates and prizes

The contest runs from 1 April 2026 to 30 April 2026. Winners are ranked by the total number of words added. Gift vouchers and printed certificates are available for the leading participants, and online certificates are given on the basis of accepted contributions.
