Shakil Hosen

Shakil Hosen is a Wikimedia Steward and Deputy Coordinator of the Dhaka Wikimedia Community. Active on Wikimedia projects since 2019, he works primarily on Bangla Wikipedia, where he serves as an administrator and oversighter, and he is also an administrator on Bangla Wikibooks.

Beyond his on-wiki work, he plays a central part in community development — organising edit-a-thons, workshops and outreach programmes to bring in new contributors. He has been involved in major events including Wikimania Bangladesh 2022 and Bangla WikiConference 2024, alongside numerous on-wiki contests and campaigns.

He was elected to the Executive Committee of Wikimedia Bangladesh in 2026 and serves as Treasurer for the 2026–2027 term. He is also a technical contributor, building tools and automation — including Telegram bots and Drive-to-Commons workflows — in support of Wikimedia projects.

His interests include open knowledge, community building, and the meeting point between technology and collaborative platforms.
